Stromness walk along the edge of the golf course looking out to the island of Hoy. This is also where the Northlink ferry comes in/out of stromness so it’s great to see it sailing past.
This is also a hot spot for dolphins, seals, and orcas have been spotted here too.
A beautiful walk with stunning views.
The cliffs at Yesnaby have outstanding sea views but are also very dangerous so not advised for young children. Please wear suitable foot wear and keep to the paths. These images were just taken where you would park your car so great even if you wanted to just go for a look to see them.
The stennes loch is beautiful, that has the odd swan & seal. It’s also close by to The Ring Of Brodgar too.
THE BROCH OF BIRSAY
Is a must see when you come to Orkney. Its a wee Island with an ancient settlement ruin at the start of the island. To get there you have to cross the pathway at low tide.
PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE TIDE TIMES BEFORE CROSSING.
http://www.magicseaweed.com is super for checking, so when it says low tide this is when the sea is at it lowest and starts to come back so your better to aim to be there an hour or so before low tide.
As well as a great walk around the cliffs, Puffins and other sea birds are spotted here which is very therapeutic to watch as the waves crash off the cliffs. Dolphins, seals, Wales and Orcas have often been spotted too.
When its low tide its great fun for rock pooling too.
